Running was all
he had left.
Despite time, deception and death itself, sleeping secrets may rise to betray the past, even in the best of families. When protagonist Ken Perry blunders into an incredible hidden chamber in his family’s home, the collegiate runner is blind-sided by his long-dead father’s secret past. Could the computer systems analyst’s random killing have actually been a spy’s assassination? Thus begins Spy Wednesday, a gritty novel of passion, betrayal, chaos and redemption.

Spy Wednesday is the engaging tale of university junior Ken Perry’s discovery of his beloved father and running partner’s cryptic past, which casts doubt upon the apparently random nature of his death by drive-by shooting several years earlier. The revelation launches Ken into a life-or-death sprint through a treacherous maze of espionage, sex, drugs and violence. Sims artfully weaves readers through the book’s themes, including Ken’s passion for long-distance running (which he inherited from his father, and continues as the constant stabilizing influence in his turbulent life), the brutality and betrayal that hound him as he pursues answers to the riddles surrounding his late father’s shrouded life and suspicious death, and finally the devotion of Ken’s coed lover Jill, which sustains him in his harried quest.

Gripping from its “through the looking glass” start to its frenetic conclusion, Spy Wednesday is the culmination of observations and musings accumulated during the author’s university background, his years and travels as a print journalist, and his encounters with those in various fields of intelligence. Readers will find the book a well-crafted meld of compelling plot driven by engaging characters caught in a maelstrom of action, suspense and drama. Sims’ book has received kudos from Jim Harger of The Grand Rapids Press and from Olympic athlete, author and columnist Jeff Galloway. Spy Wednesday is available online and through major booksellers and libraries nationwide.
